About Amanda
I have been working in mental health for over a decade. I started my career as a registered nurse on an acute psychiatric unit. This is where I fell in love with mental health. I saw dramatic improvements in clients from the magic of medicine and therapy.
In 2016, I graduated from VCU with my Masters in Science. That same year I became a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. This enables me to assess, diagnose, and treat various mental health conditions. I have been working for a community services board since 2016 and have experience in treating a wide array of mental health conditions.
I am passionate about serving those suffering with mental illness. I realize that our coping skills and adaptive behaviors develop in childhood. It is vital to recognize where all of our issues begin so that we can work toward healing and reframing our thinking. I use medication management and counseling for the best treatment outcomes.
My goal is to provide easier access to mental health treatment and improved patient-provider communication. I have a down to earth attitude and strive to make my clients comfortable in treatment.
